How much would a Eurotrip cost?

Alright, so a friend and I are planning a Eurotrip but for the summer of 2012 (to save up money). Only thing is we don’t know how much to save up for. We’re thinking about making it 2 weeks and we plan to go to London, Paris, Madrid & Rome. We want to throw Amsterdam in there but I feel like that’ll be too much :/ Plus what is a good price for a hotel? And what about this train that you can take from one city to another? Any details or information would be helpful. Please and thank you.

At this time, a trip like that using hostels mostly costs about $US 100 per person per day. Add to that your flights, about $US 1000 from the USA as general amount. It will be well possible to find cheaper tickets if you start looking in time and live near the east coast. But if you live inland and have to make a rare connection, it can be that you need to spend more even when buying at the best time.

For these cities, in such a short time, a rail pass is likely not going to be useful, but there is a site with good info on that, the site of the man in seat sixty-one.

As college/student age people, do not plan hotels, if you do, you will have to add to the daily amount.
The average tourist in Europe seems to spend something like $US 250 per person per day.

But with the exchange rates everything will change. So do your calculations a few times, use a exchange rate calculator to get a feel for what money is doing and keep an eye on questions like this on here, as it is asked often.

The exchange calculator links are at random, there are many good ones.
